Finding Voice and Connection: Why I’m Proud to Be Part of Woman Within International

As a woman, small business owner, and active member of our local Portland community, I’m always seeking spaces where connection, growth, and authenticity thrive. One network that holds a particularly special place in my heart is Woman Within.

For over 35 years, Woman Within has been dedicated to empowering women by providing safe, supportive spaces to help us reconnect with our inner wisdom, strength, and authentic voices.

Founded in 1987 by Char Tosi and a group of visionary women around a kitchen table in Wisconsin, the organization has grown into a global women-led nonprofit. Today, it spans 11 regions around the world and has impacted more than 16,000 women.

Their mission is centered around three core principles:

Woman Within Circles: Ongoing local and virtual peer support groups where women practice deep listening, sharing, and personal growth without judgment.

The Woman Within Weekend®: A powerful 48-hour immersive workshop designed to help women reclaim lost or hidden parts of themselves, step into their personal power, and heal from past challenges.

Consent-Based Leadership & Inclusion: Guided by core values of inclusion, respect, and integrity, Woman Within operates on a consensus model where every woman’s voice carries weight.

Why Community Matters

Whether through localized peer circles or international workshops, being part of an organization that emphasizes stepping up while staying "one step behind"—supporting each woman at her own pace—has been a grounding experience for me.

If you are looking for a space to deepen your self-discovery or connect with a diverse global network of supportive women, I encourage you to explore their upcoming programs or find a local circle near you:
